Wade Rowland, award-winning literary travel writer and author

WorldTravelGuide.com is co-founded by Wade Rowland, an award-winning non-fiction author and literary travel writer. Rowland's lifelong passion for world travel has taken him on explorations around the world.

Rowland's travel articles have appeared in major Canadian and American newspapers and magazines, and he is the publisher and editor-in-chief of the award-winning Rowland Travel Guide series of travel guide books.

He is the author of more than a dozen books including Ockham's Razor, an acclaimed philosophical travel narrative set in France that mixes philosophical speculation with commentary about the food, architecture and art of France.

Rowland's latest book "Galileo's Mistake: A New Look at the Epic Confrontation between Galileo and the Church", about the trial of Galileo, was published August 2003 in the US by Arcade Publishers. In Galileo's Mistake, Rowland examines Galileo's confrontation with the Church of Rome from the perspective of late-twentieth-century scientific and philosophical insights into the nature of reality, in a narrative which includes stories of journeying through Tuscany and life in Rome.

Rowland's Spirit of the Web, a popular history of communications technologies, was selected as Required Reading for 1997 by The Globe and Mail, and is used as a text at numerous Canadian and American universities and colleges.

Wade Rowland is a long-time journalist who has worked for the Winnipeg Free Press, the Toronto Telegram and both national Canadian television networks: CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and the CTV Television Network.

Rowland holds a doctorate from the faculty of Communication and Culture at York University (Toronto) and teaches the history, sociology and philosophy of communications technologies in the Computer Studies faculty at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. He is a former Maclean Hunter Chair of Ethics in Media at Ryerson University in Toronto.
