Viagra and Cialis seized in Paris

Travelers going to Paris that were planning to rely on chemical assistance for evening endurance should be extra careful when purchasing their performance pills of choice, as imitation clones of the popular drugs have been infiltrating the French marketplace.

A shipment of 224,000 fake Viagra and Cialis anti-impotence pills worth 2.4 million euros ($3.5 million) was intercepted and seized by French customs agents according a announcement from French Budget Minister Eric Woerth's office on Jan. 7, 2008.

The fake copies of the bestselling drugs had the characteristic shape and color of Viagra and Cialis pills and were found during a routine search at the Paris airline hub, in Roissey France.

The companies, Pfizer and Eli Lilly, which respectively own the Viagra and Cialis brands, confirmed that the pills were counterfeit.
