Although you won't find any information about the rumored new flights between Toronto and New York at the Porter Airlines website at www.porterairlines.com, their recent full-page ads in the January 5, 2008 Toronto Star and Globe and Mail, more than hinted at it, with part of a large red apple icon on display and the words "Some news is just too big to hide. A new destination coming soon."
Porter Airlines has emphasized its marketing difference as a retro air travel experience, reminiscent of the golden days of air travel when it was once fun to fly - remember those days - before the cattle herding that takes place at most airports and sardine seating that has become the norm. Porter Airlines, based in downtown Toronto (not Pearson International Airport on the outskirts of Toronto) flies out of Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) which reduces to and fro airport time if you live in Toronto or your destination is downtown Toronto.
Their new fleet of Bombardier Q400's have leather seats with two to three more inches of legroom than typical economy-class seating. There's a stylish new passenger lounge, just steps from the departure gates. It features free wireless internet access, complimentary coffee/tea/soft drinks, and a business center with workstations. Best of all, it’s open to all Porter passengers free of charge.

Because of Porter Airlines central location and small airport feel, easy access to the airport, quick check-in and security, a traveler can easily save hours on a round-trip flight. It's not too hard to predict that their new Toronto-New York route - when it does get officially announced and flying - will likely be quite popular.
